A controversial 70-foot cell tower will be built in South Hills in Charleston, but there are some conditions on the project.
The nTelos tower planned for construction beside the parking lot of the Elizabeth Memorial United Methodist Church received the green light Thursday from the Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals. But there were a few stipulations. It must blend into the existing environment by being enclosed with wood, with a barrier of pine trees, and the area between the compound and the property line must not be disturbed.
Neighbors have been objecting to the tower, but a last-minute agreement paved the way for the construction project.
