The Funeral Parade, a colorful event that added the flavor of New Orleans to the streets of Charleston before it was recently canceled, has been resurrected, but to a different location.
South Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Bob Anderson said he's excited to have the Funeral Parade.
The Charleston Gazette reports the parade will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 9 in South Charleston.
A sponsor for Charleston's parade the past three years pulled out this year. The parade had been a signature event for the now-defunct Charleston Sternwheel Regatta. About 1,500 people attended the parade last year.
Past organizer Keith Pickens said he hopes the parade can return to Charleston next year.
