Most of us use Facebook to chat with friends or share photographs, not as a crime-fighting tool. But video surveillance posted online recently clearly caught a robbery suspect in the act. Now, that suspect is behind bars.
Cabell County sheriff's deputies say when Fred Meineking broke into Tony Patrick's house on McCoy Road in Huntington, he didn't realize his crime was being recorded. The video surveillance shows the suspect stealing everything from cameras and jewelry to a gun.
Patrick's friend, Vanessa Collins, posted a still shot of the suspect’s face on Facebook and got hundreds of hits. Some people who recognized the suspect as Meineking contacted the sheriff's department.
Two days after the crime, deputies arrested Meineking and charged him with breaking and entering and burglary.
