A Kanawha County man who works as a professional truck driver has earned a distinct honor on the national level.
Kenneth Grimmett of Belle placed third in the Flatbed Class at the American Trucking Association’s National Truck Driving Championship, which took place in Minneapolis, Minn., Aug. 7-11. He works for Con-Way Freight.
"Kenneth Grimmett is a true driving professional and a wonderful representative for his industry,” said Jan Vineyard, president of the West Virginia Trucking Association. “We are proud of his accomplishments on the national stage.”
Grimmett achieved his "One Million Mile Distinguished Driver Award" earlier this year. This places him in the top 1 percent of the driving population. He has driven for more than 10 years without an accident.
