Students throughout West Virginia are starting to prepare for a new school year, and Eyewitness News is ready to help make sure they get off to a good start.
Our annual Backpack Attack efforts are under way. It's a program designed to put school supplies in the hands of students who need assistance in Kanawha, Boone and Cabell counties.
This year, Eyewitness News has teamed up with Catholic Charities of West Virginia. Last year, with your help, Eyewitness News collected more than 1,000 backpacks, and the station wants to surpass that number this year.
Residents have until Friday to donate backpacks, pens, pencils, notebooks and other supplies for students of all ages.
Donations can be dropped off during normal business hours at WCHS and Fox 11 at 1301 Piedmont Road in Charleston and 1002 Fourth Ave. in Huntington.
