An annual Labor Day weekend tradition for the capital city has been canceled.
Funeral Parade organizers say the main sponsor for the past three years pulled out of this year's parade, The Associated Press reported. Organizer Keith Pickens said the parade may return next year.
The New Orleans-style parade had been a signature event for the now-defunct Charleston Sternwheel Regatta Festival.
About 1,500 people attended last year's parade. This year the parade would have been on the same day as the annual Friends of Coal Bowl Game in Morgantown between West Virginia and Marshall universities.
