After several outbreaks of swine flu in nearby states, local livestock fairs in West Virginia are taking precautions.
One of the outbreaks was reported just across the Ohio River in Gallia County.
Health officials are investigating a large flu outbreak believed to be the result of contact with pigs at the Gallia County Fair, according to a news release from the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department
This has created some concerns at the Mason County Fair this week. Health officials are only allowing exhibitors to touch the pigs, and hand sanitizing stations have been set up near the barns.
