Service was restored Friday morning to Frontier Communications’ customers affected by an outage in the Bigley Avenue to the Mink Shoals area, a company spokesman said.

As many as 3,000 residential and business customers and some cellular telephone sites lost service Wednesday when a contractor involved in a construction project at Spring and Bullitt streets severed two underground cables, the company said in a previous news release.

Company spokesman Dan Page said crews worked around the clock to repair the damage and service was returned to customers about 11 a.m. Friday.
