A 75-year-old woman had died from injuries she received when she was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a Charleston convenience store.
Joyce Kendall of Charleston was hit as she was trying to retrieve a gas cap that had fallen off her vehicle about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the 7-Eleven in Kanawha City at 39th Street and MacCorkle Avenue. Police said her grandchildren were in her vehicle and witnessed the accident.
Kendall was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Division, where she later died, police said.
Police said they believe the incident is a tragic accident, but it remains under investigation.

An elderly woman was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven in Kanawha City, an emergency dispatcher said.
The accident happened about 11:20 a.m. in the parking lot of the convenience store, located at 39th Street and MacCorkle Avenue, a Metro 911 dispatcher said. The dispatcher said the extent of the woman’s injuries was unclear, but she was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Division.
Charleston police and an ambulance crew responded to the accident.
