The suspect in a Kanawha County convenience store armed robbery is now in police custody.
Charleston police caught up with Jeremy David Elswick at a home on Virginia Avenue overnight.
Police say he held up the 7-Eleven in South Charleston early last week, and stole a Chevy truck to use for his getaway. The truck was found a short time later.
Elswick will be arraigned Monday morning. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for more on this developing story.
South Charleston police are searching for a man they say robbed a convenience store early Wednesday morning whom they consider very dangerous and unstable.
It happened about 2:45am at the 7-Eleven on Jefferson Road in South Charleston. Police say a man armed with a gun walked in and demanded cash and took off with a small amount of money. No one was hurt in the incident. Police say Elswick was at the store earlier in the night, made a purchase and then drove away but then came back to rob the store, they say during his robbery witnesses say he had an emotional break-down but decided to go through with it.
Police say their prime suspect in this case is Jeremy Elswick. Police consider him armed, very dangerous and "unstable." They have deployed several resources to find Elswick. South Charleston police along with Charleston police were searching an apartment complex on Leslie Road in Charleston Wednesday morning for Elswick. They found his truck but have yet to find their suspect.
Elswick has been in trouble in the past, he actually recently got out of prison.
He was sentenced to 1-10 years in prison on two charged back in 2010, after confessing to stealing a truck from the Bayer CropScience Plant, breaking into a home, and then crashing the truck into a creek.
