It all started at the Nitro Mardis Gras Casino and Resort after Nitro police responded to a disturbance call there around 3am Friday. The driver took off and made his way to Lincoln County, before turning around and coming back into Kanawha County. Police put out spike strips on Corridor G, but the driver crossed the median driving the wrong way and evaded them. He then took off on I-77 with one flat tire and cops could not catch him until he got to the Ripley area. Witnesses say they heard so many shots it sounded like firecrackers going off, one says she saw a man lying on his back outside his car. I-77 Northbound had been shutdown at Exit 132 in the Ripley/Fairplain area due to the standoff but has now reopened. We will continue to update this story as we get more information.
