We now know the name of a man whose body was found in the Elk River Wednesday evening.
Kanawha County deputies say Rex Edward Hughes, 48, was last seen on Tuesday, July 17th before taking a trip on the river. He was reported missing around 12pm on Wednesday.
Deputies say they found some of Hughes' belongings on the river bank in the Walgrove area--where he was known to go swimming. Dive teams found his body nearby.
Crews have found the body of a missing man in the Elk River.
Dispatchers got a call about a missing swimmer in the Walgrove Road area around 12:30pm Wednesday.
The caller told dispatchers the man had been swimming; and when they went to check on him, they only found his belongings near the riverbank.
The man's body was recovered Wednesday night.
The man's name has not been released.
Crews are searching the Elk River for a Kanawha County man who might have drowned.
