Friends of family members of 33-year old Steve Holsinger line the front of the Scioto County courthouse Monday morning. "You know if we don't stick up for him, who's going to? We're here to just find justice for him and hopefully they get what they deserve," says Holsinger's cousin, Justin Lines. Holsinger was shot and killed in front of his Wheelersburg home Thursday night when deputies say Tyler Staker and his dad came to repossess a lawnmower. The younger Staker says he shot Holsinger in self-defense after he pointed a gun at him. Holsinger's mother-in-law Konni Reynolds says, "Five times. They shot five times and he didn't shoot once." She remembers Holsinger as a wonderful father to his three children who tried to avoid confrontation. Family members say they're upset because Staker has not been charged yet, but sheriff Marty Donini says that doesn't mean he won't be in the near future. They've been meeting with the prosecutor and will turn over all evidence to a grand jury. He says, "Let the grand jury take a look at this once we get it all processed. Take our time and do it right. I'm okay with what we're doing. I understand the emotional outcry. There's no problem. I understand. It's natural." He says detectives met again this morning to go over all the evidence again and make sure they have made the right decision so far, and he says he thinks they have. He says this gives them extra time to get everything together with the investigation to hand over to the prosecutor and present to the grand jury. Meanwhile, family ,members of Holsinger say they'll continue to stand their ground. Lines says, they want "Justice for him so that way his family gets a little bit of peace knowing that whoever did this is put away." ------------------------------------------------------------- -Friday, July 13th Scioto County sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Thursday in Wheelersburg. Sheriff Marty Donini says it happened just before 10:30 Thursday night at 9550 Old Gallia Pike. He says deputies and detectives got on scene to find a man shot to death lying in the yard. They identified the victim as 33-yeard-old Steve Holsinger. Sheriff Donini says a witness told detectives that his son, Tyler Staker and himself had gone to the house to get a piece of equipment from their business that allegedly hadn't been fully paid for. The pair allegedly went to the house and knocked on the door. The father told detectives Holsinger came outside with a gun in his hand, then put it in his pocket, then pulled it out and told the pair to get off the property. The witness told detectives the victim then pointed the gun in Tyler Staker's face, and that's when Staker allegedly shot Holsinger several times. No charges have been filed, but sheriff Donini says they'll consult with Scioto County prosecutor Mark Kuhn, and then present the case to the Scioto County grand jury pending the autopsy and evidence collected at the scene. Sheriff Donini says the body has been sent to the Montgomery County morgue for an autopsy and evidence will be sent to BCI&I in London Ohio. MORE NEWS FROM EYEWITNESS NEWS
