"I am sorry," are words heard in Mason county today from a former sheriff who is now in jail.
Former Mason County Sheriff David Anthony wrote a letter to the county commission saying he's sorry for his failure to act as sheriff to the county.
Anthony plead guilty in a plea deal to charges of embezzlement, and wanton endangerment for firing a weapon at his son.
Commission president Rick Handley taught Anthony when he was in school and believes the apology is sincere.
"Knowing David, I think its real, it's sincere," Handley said.
Mason County currently has a temporary sheriff until a new on is elected in November.
