A dozen rough days after power went out for 89-year-old Okey Miller, First Energy crews restored power to his home in Newton about 4:30 p.m.
The terminal throat cancer victim had been dealing with temperatures as high as 99 degrees inside the home cooled only by a generator driven fan.
Miller's family is angry it took 12 days. First Energy says it tries to give priority to medical problems if it can. Appalachian power customer Faye Linger is still out after a dozen days She stores her medicine at the local fire department because it must be refrigerated.
A church group helping repair her home had to use non-power tools. The storm has been especially tough on the powerless ill and elderly. They do want to be part of this story on day 13 or on Friday the 13th, two weeks into the blackout.
