COPPER THEFT INVESTIGATION Deputies Arrest Man Who Allegedly Stole Copper From Storm Ravaged Area

Thieves are taking advantage of the storm, and are stealing copper and aluminum wire from storm ravaged areas.
Boone County Deputies have arrested 22-year-old Robert Graham Powers, of Seth.
Deputies say they found stolen wire at Powers' house that had been taken from electrical utility lines in the Prenter Area. People in that part of Boone County have been without power since the storm hit on Friday, June 29th.
If you damage or destroy a public utility company's property, it is a felony that can carry a one to three year prison sentence and up to a $5,000 fine.

Boone County Deputies need your help to find a man who they say stole 1,000 feet of copper and aluminum wire from an area hit hard by the recent storms.
Investigators say they got a tip that 22-year-old Robert Graham Powers, of Seth, had several feet of stolen wire at his house. When they got on scene, deputies say they found several hundred pounds of copper and aluminum wire that appeared to have been taken from electrical utility lines in the area.
Workers with Appalachian Power Company confirmed that the cable was their electrical wire that had been stolen from the Prenter area. People in that area have been without power since the storms hit Friday, June 29th.
Powers is charged with felony charges of damage or destruction of public utility company property, which carries a one to three year prison sentence and up to a $5,000 fine, and grand larceny.
