More thunderstorms blew through the region at Midday Thursday, knocking down more trees and powerlines.
Lightning was frequent along with strong winds and heavy rain. The storms didn't last long but managed to set back power restoration efforts in several counties.
The 9-1-1 Center in Kanawha County was struck by lightning. Citizens are still able to call 9-1-1 but their calls are answered at an alternate location.
Traffic lights on MacCorkle Avenue were out from Patrick Street to the University of Charleston. Officials were urging drivers to treat blacked out intersections as four-way stops.
Trees and lines were reported down in numerous locations, including Charleston, Nitro, Madison, Foster (Boone County), and Elkview.
Several weather-related accidents were also reported due to heavy rain from the storms.
As of 2 PM AEP reported 42,000 customers in Kanawha County without power. Prior to the storms hitting, that number was 39,000.
