Power companies report progress in cleaning up last week's record storm damage, but hot stormy weather is adding new problems.
Power line repair efforts by First Energy took a hit Tuesday night as a new storm knocked out more power in Roane County. It rolled in with disturbing force. Several mobile homes were damaged and one knocked off it's foundation.
It was especially frustrating for families already living without power. Strong winds from the Friday evening storm toppled trees and power lines, leaving a record 688,000 First Energy and Appalachian Power customers without service.
Appalachian Power had halved its share of outages by this Independence Day, but anger and frustration are building in those waiting. The company has about 3000 people battling the storm including the crew from as far away as Kansas.
