HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Marshall University's new School of Pharmacy will begin classes this fall after receiving pre-candidate accreditation status.
Marshall President Stephen J. Kopp says in a news release that the pre-candidate status granted by the Accreditation Council For Pharmacy Education is a major step toward full accreditation.
Up to 80 students are expected to enroll in the first class.
The doctor of pharmacy program's pre-candidate accreditation will be in effect until June 30, 2013.
The accreditation council will conduct an on-site evaluation during the 2012-2013 academic year and decide whether to move the program's status to "candidate."
