Bob Evans Farms will close this food production plant in Bidwell, Ohio and a similar one in Springfield next year. The company calls the shutdown difficult and views the end of this sausage and links operation as part of a strategic move into packaged side dishes and convenience foods.
Many of its ready-to-eat products will come out improvements to a Texas plant. 56 jobs will be lost in Bidwell. Gallia County residents don't like it.
Bidwell's economy had already been stung by layoffs at the plant n 2010. The shift of operations from the county where Bob Evans started it all prompted one man to say Evans would turn over in his grave if he knew what was happening.
The company provided some video for our reports. They would not allow us inside.
