Bill Stewart cherished the Mountain State. He loved its people and beauty.
And on a spectacular day at one of the State's picturesque golf courses, Stew was loving life hitting the white ball around with friends.
But suddenly on the 17th hole, Stewart collapsed. Later it the day he was pronounced dead.
A man full of life, gone at the age of 59.
When he had the chance to come back and coach at WVU in the season of 2000, he didn't think twice.
Stewart would work under Hall of Famer Don Nehlen and the highly-successful Rich Rodriguez before becoming the school's head coach.
After three seasons, he was forced out but no doubt he wore "The Old Gold And Blue" on his sleeves.
Stew coached all over the country before getting the chance to return to the Mountain State.
