Charleston police say they have a lead in a drive-by shooting that happened on the city's West Side late Monday night.

Police say a SUV was on Main Street when a person started firing several shots from a high powered hand gun at the SUV. The SUV took off and crashed into a retaining wall and fence in front of a home on Russell Street. The driver took off but police say he came back once police arrived and secured the scene. He was not hurt.

There were also shots fired at a home on Grant Avenue, about a block away from where the car was shot and crashed.

On Tuesday, neighbors said there are constant problems in that section of the city and they blame drugs. Police say they haven't ruled out drugs as a possible motive for the shooting but they also don't have any evidence pointing them in that direction.

The driver or the SUV, Robert Miller, was arrested last fall for robbing the West Side Exxon.

We will continue to update this story as we get more information.

Police are searching Charleston's West Side for several suspects that fired shots in the area.

They say a vehicle crashed into a fence at the intersection of Russell and Main Streets.
Police believe someone shot at the vehicle before it crashed into fence. The driver was not hurt.

Police are searching for a blue or silver colored car in connection with this accident.
Over on Grant Street, police say shots were fired into a house. No one was hurt and police say they are looking for a suspect who ran from the area.
