What used to be Kyle Jarrell's home in Boone County is now just a pile of rubble. He says his trailer went up in flames within the blink of an eye.
"I woke up coughing and choking and my t.v. was on fire," Jarrell said. "I tried to put it out but it just got worse and I burnt my hand. The smoke was coming out so bad I just couldn't breathe."
Jarrell says he's not sure how his t.v. caught on fire but he says once it started it spread quickly. Luckily, his two children were staying at their grandparents' home for the night and he and his fiance made it out safely.
But once outside, all they could do is watch everything they had to up in flames.
"I rebuilt everything in it. Spent about $6,000 in it. Now I have nothing to show for."
Jarrell says he spent the past few months rebuilding his trailer. He remodeled a bedroom for his 3-year old son. He says it was something his son couldn't wait for.
But now when Jarrell looks at his home gutted by the fire, he says he feel like its pay back for things he's done in his past.
"I've been in prison and I've done all that. This time, I finally bought everything and I bought it myself," he said. "It might be a thing showing me what I've done in the past was wrong. Because karma comes back."
But Jarrell says it's his job as a father to press forward. Hopeful things will get better.
"I'm going to keep on going. I've got two kids to worry about."
Luckily, the Jarrell family wasn't hurt but Kyle is afraid their pet dog may have not made it out.
Fire fighters still haven't released the cause of the fire.
