Huntington , Cabell County , West Virginia
It was a true working women's Wednesday at a Huntington Habitat House.
WTCH radio personality Judy Eaton says, "I got to hang some insulation today, and haven't lost a limb or a finger yet, so we're all good!"
All week long at Habitat affiliates all over the country, including Huntington, are partipating in National Women Build Week. Regular volunteer Charles Shaver helped teach some of those groups what to do this week. "Having a week of volunteerism from like here from the Women Build, it's very enjoyable, because they come and they really help us out."
Wednesday's group came from women in media, from local radio, newspapers, and television stations, including Eyewitness News reporter Darrah Wilcox.
Eaton says, "Habitat for Humanity is a great organization with a great cause, and it just helps out so many local people."
The ladies hung insulation and siding, even cutting and fitting pipes for all the water lines. Shaver says, "As well as them helping us, we try to help them on learning the construction part of the build."
They're helping Build new homes to help build a brighter future for folks in our community.
Other groups participating in Women Build Week are Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, local women realtors, a women's leadership group from United Way, local women in government, and female board members or members' spouses. Nearly 10,000 volunteers are expected nationwide this week.
