If you live in certain areas of Sissonville and Charleston, West Virginia, you may need to boil your water.

West Virginia American Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for about 400 customers in the Rt. 21/Sissonville Drive area between Charleston and Sissonville.

This advisory includes Rt. 21/Sissonville Drive from Falcon Drive to Whittington Road, Falcon Drive, Vermont Drive, Corvair Drive, Hampshire Drive, Scraggs Drive, Coral Drive, Palm Drive, Walls Street, Rose Hill, Old Kanawha Two Mile, Fore Drive, Jenkins Hollow and Whittington Road, and any other customers on nearby side roads who experienced a disruption in service Wednesday.

WVAW says the advisory comes after a water main break, which crews are working to fix. Those affected customers may experience low water pressure or a disruption in service for about 4-6 hours until the repairs are finished.

There is a water tanker set up at the old Fas Check grocery store on Sissonville Drive. Customers are encouraged to bring their own containers and fill them as needed. Once service is restored, the boil water advisory remains in affect for 24 hours.

If you live in the certain areas of Kanawha County, you may experience a disruption with your water service on Tuesday.

According to a release from West Virginia American Water, some 400 customers in the Rt. 21/Sissonville Drive area between Charleston and Sissonville will experience a disruption with their service. The outage will begin at 8am Tuesday and is expected to last approximately eight hours.

The affected areas include: Rt. 21/Sissonville Drive from Falcon Drive to Whittington Road, Falcon Drive, Vermont Drive, Hampshire Drive, Scraggs Drive, Coral Drive, Palm Drive, Walls Street, Rose Hill, Old Kanawha Two Mile, Fore Drive, Jenkins Hollow and Whittington Road, and potentially other residential side roads in the Edens Fork area.

WVAW says a tanker will be parked at 2637 Sissonville Drive across from Casto Motorcycle Sales during this time. Customers are encouraged to bring their own containers and fill them up as needed.

This water disruption is needed in order to depressurize a water main while contractors work on a City of Charleston sewer line project.

A precautionary boil water advisory will immediately follow once water service is restored. Affected customers should boil their water before consumption until further notice.
