West Virginia State Police Sgt. Michael Baylous confirms that the suspect who allegedly shot a state trooper in Elkins was shot and killed. Baylous says William Dumire was found in a drain culvert near Kelly Mountain Lodge, off of US Route 33 near Elkins around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dumire is said to have arrived at the location after carjacking a victim in Elkins by gunpoint. The victim was releaed unharmed. When troopers found Dumire, an exchange of gunfire occured, according to Baylous. Baylous says the investigation into the details of the incident are still under investigation. Cpl. Andrew Loudin, of the Crimes Against Children Unit, is in stable condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He is a ten year veteran of the West Virginia State Police. -------------------------------------- Sources tell Eyewitness News Dumire was shot and killed after an extensive manhunt. The information has not been confirmed by West Virginia State Police. --------------------------------------- A spokesperson for the West Virginia State Police says the suspect, William Dumire, has been caught. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for further information. --------------------------------------- A West Virginia State Trooper is shot and the suspect is still on the run. State Police say William Dumire, 55, shot the trooper, while he was serving a search warrant, next to Elkins High School around 4:00 p.m. Thursday. The trooper was rushed to Davis Memorial Hospital and later flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital. We're told he made it out of surgery and is in stable condition. Police say after the shooting, Dumire car-jacked someone. He later got out of that car and took off running. Multiple police agencies are now looking for Dumire in the area of the Kelly Mountain Lodge. Dumire is 5'10" tall and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown t-shirt and blues jeans. He was also wearing glasses and workboots. Anyone with information should call 911 immediately. ----------------------------------- A police officer has been shot in Randolph County. According to WDTV, the officer was shot near Elkins High School around 4:00 p.m. Thursday. Paramedics took him to Davis Memorial Hospital. We do not know his name and condition at this time.
