Tiffany Finkton eats, sleeps, and breathes Hip Hop. It is a passion she plans on translating into more than just a hobby but her life's work.
"My goal in life is to do this as a living, she said. "It is the only thing I've really known so a lot of times I find myself feeling out of place at work."
Finkton is hoping to also guide others with similar passions as a mentor at DigiSo, the new digital arts space at West Virginia State University's Economic Development Center.
The newly renovated center now features state of the art production equipment for projects ranging from music to film
"Folks that make a living from their shoulders up finally have a place that is dedicated to them," Sarah Halstead from Create WV said. "They can come to this building and hang out for free. You can teach here. You can produce here and you can hang out here."
The idea is to incubate and grow the creative economy in the state and to help passionate creatives like Tiffany turn their talents into economic success.
"Ideas happen here," WVSU Extension agent Sandra Moss said. "We want people to come here and to tell other people about it."
A place for new ideas and now a place that Tiffany argues means no more excuses for those willing to take a risk on their creative passions.
