A courtroom full of people showed up to stand their ground for, and against Point Pleasant Intermediate School principal Cameron Moffett. He's charged with felony child abuse after police say he pushed and shoved a student, Zach Plants down the bus after teachers say they couldn't calm him down. Plants' grandmother, Linda Plants, was protesting with a group at the hearing. "It just floors me and it just breaks my heart to see someone have to go through something like that," she says. She was one of dozens who think Moffett should face charges. At least three teachers testified Monday morning they never saw Moffett abuse Plants, inside or outside the bus, and there were nearly a hundred friends and co-workers there to show support at the hearing. Nancy Warner, a Mason County Schools employee, says, "That should tell you something right there. Because he is very fair, and he tries to work with the children, I mean it is not in his character to abuse a child. There is no way that there was any child abuse here." Warner says teachers and administrators have no tools to protect themselves. "I feel like they are not given enough rights in the schools these days to be able to discipline the children," she says. There were plenty more to back up that opinion Monday morning, but Plants says it's her grandson who wasn't protected. "We're just here to see justice done," she says. They're both very different sides to this story, that will continue to play out in the court system for now. Magistrate Gail Roush bound the case over the grand jury at the end of the hearing, sending the courtroom into both applause, and "booing". MORE NEWS FROM EYEWITNESS NEWS
