If you enjoy outdoor dining, there will soon be more options in downtown Charleston.
The city has passed a new ordinance that allows restaurants to serve food and beer outdoors.
Up until now; under state law, restaurants located on city property were prohibited from serving beer outdoors.
Restaurant owners must construct a proper barrier between the sidewalk and street, but many say they are elated at the change.
Scott Miller, the owner of Bar 101 and Ichiban, says he hopes to have tables set up outdoors in about a week.
Charleston City Council member, Jean Davis, says improving the outdoor dining experience should draw more families and increase pedestrian traffic downtown.
Davis also says if all goes well, they hope the state will permit wine be served as well.
