Putnam County and Kanawha County deputies are investigating after a Division of Highways worker found a dismembered limb on the side of Route 35.
The body part was found near the Mason/Putnam line around 1:15 Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators believe the body part, which they say is an arm or a leg, could belong to Carol Rhim, 53.
Rhim was murdered and then dismembered by her ex-boyfriend, Nathaniel Lawton, in January. Lawton then killed himself.
Deputies found half of Rhim's body in the trunk of Lawton's car. They say he disposed of the rest of the body along Route 35, from Kanawha County to Ohio.
Investigators say they plan to thoroughly search the area with canines for any other possible remains.
