A Cedar Grove family says they always thought their kids would be safe in their own backyard. But after Wednesday night, they say they will never feel the same again. They say you never know who is watching and waiting.
"It's sad to know that you can't let your kids go outside and play," said Jeremy Wilkinson.
This is the sixth reported alleged attempted abduction in more than two weeks. Now a family is shaken to their core.
The Boggess family says it happened on William Street while little Lexus, Brooke, and Jerry were playing near their clubhouse.
"He said come here little boy and motioned my brother to him," said Lexus Boggess.
The kids say a man in a black, Chevy truck pulled up behind the fence and tried to lure 7-year old Jerry toward him. The kids say they knew something wasn't right.
"I just thought this is weird. Why would he be asking that," asked Brooke Withrow.
Neighbor and family friend Jeremy Wilkinson was walking his dog when he heard the kids screaming.
"I was just wondering what was going on! Then he saw me and took off," said Wilkinson.
The man took off before anyone could identify him. Police arrived, but the alleged predator was no where to be found.
"I don't know what he's trying to do but he's lucky we didn't catch him last night because I tell ya," said Amy Boggess.
Amy says she always felt safe when her kids traveled in groups, but now things are different.
Now a family is left looking over their shoulder, wondering if a predator is on the loose. "My kids can't be kids. I feel sorry for people who have to go through this, and now I'm one of them you know," said Boggess.
