The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office was called to the 200 Block of Winfield Road outside of the St. Albans City limits around 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday after an 18-year-old girl reported a man attempted to kidnap her.
The victim said she was standing along the road waiting for the school bus when a man in his 50's with short gray hair, stopped, jumped out of the passenger side door and attempted to grab her. She moved away from him, deputies said.
Deputies say a black truck traveling north on Winfield Road, drove up and the suspect fled north.
Deputies say they got on scene within minutes but weren't able to find the suspect's vehicle. They say it is a white cargo or box van style.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kanawha County Sheriff's
Office at 304-357-0169 and speak with Detective S.D. Snuffer.
Deputies are also interested in talking to the driver of the black truck who may be in a position to provide them with suspect information.
