If you live in the Sissonville area of Kanawha County, you may need to boil your water.
According to a release issued by West Virginia American Water, the boil advisory is in effect for approximately 1,000 customers in the Sissonville, Sissonville Road, and Pocatalico areas.
The advisory area includes Rt. 21/Sissonville Drive from White Oak Drive to Poca River Road (also known as Cicerone Star Route), Presson Drive, Lakeland Drive, Mapleview Drive, Kelmont Lane, Archibald Drive, Legg Fork Road from Rt. 21 to Sigman Fork Road, Derricks Creek Road from Rt. 21 to the 5000 block, Riverbend Road, Shirkey Lane, Grapevine Road, Sisson Lane, Sisson Terrace and Old Mill Road.
West Virginia American Water says the advisory has been issued because of a water main break, which drained a nearby water storage tank. We're told WVAW crews are working to repair that break.
Customers in those affected areas may experience low water pressure, or a disruption of service until Friday afternoon -- when those repairs are expected to be complete.
Students at Sissonville Elementary were dismissed at 9am Friday morning due to the water problems.
If you live in any of the affected areas, you should boil your water until further notice.
