The first West Virginia Marcellus to Manufacturing Ethane Development Conference kicked off Wednesday at the Civic Center.
The focus is on industries that will benefit from ethane cracker plants.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin delivered a welcome to open up the conference.
Recently, Shell Oil announced it would put a cracker plant in the state, but Tomblin says he's confident the state will get at least one refinery.
