From the war zone to the home-front one local soldier is making Mountain State history by being the first person in West Virginia to receive one of our nations highest honors.
James McCormick is a decorated soldier who fought in Operation Desert Storm and in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
McCormick started a non-profit organization, where he works selflessly to help dozens of homeless veterans find jobs and a place to call home.
Friday, McCormick is being recognized in Washington D.C. by the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation.
McCormick is one of three people, nationwide, to be given the Citizen Service Before Self award.
