The First Baptist Church of West Liberty was able to meet this morning, a week after the devastating tornadoes that ripped through Southern West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky.
The preachers wife, Billie and her daughter Becky Cook, found safety in the church's basement.
The EF3 tornado ripped part of the roof off the church and the rubble from the twister trapped the two in the basement as the damage ruptured a gas line.
They said the odor was so strong they could taste it and it burned their eyes.
After fifteen minutes, the family were able to escape.
Today the two say they have a lot to be thankful for.
"Its very emotional," Cook said. "We're lucky to be alive."
