Kiahsville , Wayne County , West Virginia

The Union Mission wasted no time in putting your donations to use. Monday a truck was parked in front of our station. Thursday morning the first delivery left to head south.

At Cove Gap Freewill Baptist Church volunteers from the community and beyond welcomed the truck with open arms.

“We've been giving out a lot of food, water,” said Volunteer Jacqueline Napier.

From clothes, to personal care items, cleaning supplies, dog food, and of course plenty of non perishable food items will help tornado victims in Kiahsville.

“I was not home at the time but my family was and I had to climb through the trees to get to my home,” said Kiahsville resident Lavonna Napier.

Lavonna Napier is thankful to be alive and have her family but still needs help. She comes to the church to help others despite needing it herself.

“I didn't know there was that much love in the world anymore and we're appreciative of everything,” said Napier.

Maple Wiley and her daughter Vicie stop by the church to get food and other items. They were in a back room of their trailer when the tornado hit.

“I was in the trailer I was scared to death I didn't know what to do,” said Maple Wiley.

But even if the stories of survival have some differences, one thing remained the same.

“It's wonderful what people have done for us in our community. We really appreciate everybody that's done everything for us,” said Lavonna Napier.

“I appreciate all that you have done for us,” said Maple Wiley.

“This is my community and I want to do anything that I can to help them,” said Jacqueline Napier.

A community that may be broken, but promises to stay together through this tough time.
