The Lincoln County sheriff at the center of an election fraud battle is set to resign Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
Sheriff Jerry Bowman, along with Lincoln County Clerk Donald Whitten, are accused of rigging the 2010 Democratic primary with fraudulent absentee ballots.
Both men agreed to plead guilty.
Bowman will plead guilty to a federal conspiracy charge. He is accused of trying to stuff the ballot box in his favor while running for circuit clerk.
Whitten will plead guilty to lying to investigators about those absentee ballots.
A new sheriff will be sworn in Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Hamlin.
