Two Cabell County women are charged with child neglect creating risk of injury after six children are found inside a Milton home with their mothers allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Court documents say State Police responded to a report of a reckless driver early Saturday morning. Troopers followed that car to a home on Hayleigh Street in Milton around 3:30am Saturday.
That's where the driver, 31-year old Amber Lea Turner told Troopers she had left her four children in the care of 24-year old Ashley Nichole Lucker while she was at work. State Police say Turner was intoxicated.
Ashley Luker was found inside the residence, passed out in a bedroom. Troopers say when she did wake up, Luker admitted to mixing Xanex and alcohol. Her two children were also inside that residence.
State Police say the conditions inside that house were "deplorable" with beer bottles, prescription pills, and kitchen knives all within the children's reach.
The court documents say the refrigerator was empty and old food was out on the counters. One 5-year old boy told troopers he had been eating "ice cream and pickles." All six of the children who ranged from 5 to 11 years old were removed from the house.
Both Luker and Turner are charged with child neglect creating risk of injury. Lucker is in jail on a $150,000 dollar bond. Tucker is in jail on a $100,000 dollar bond. Both will have preliminary hearings next week.
