We have some new information just in on that shooting on Charleston's West Side. It happened last night on 4th Avenue. Police have now released the victim's name. They say Gabriel Gonzales was shot in the head. He is from New York and was staying at the home at 1454 4th Avenue. Police believe several people knocked on the door at the home and rushed Gonzales in an attempted robbery. Charleston police seized a large amount of cash and drugs from the home. Right now police don't have any suspects in the crime but are continuing the investigation. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for the latest on this developing story. ----------------------- Charleston Police say a man was shot in the head on Charleston's west side. The victim called 911 around 9:45 p.m. on Monday to report that he had been shot at 1454 4th Avenue. Police say when they got on scene they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was taken to the hospital and was in surgery as of 11:00 p.m. Police say he is in critical condition. His name has not been released. Police say right now, they do not have a suspect, but a neighbor reported seeing a group of people flee from the home after the shooting. There was a foot pursuit in the area after the shooting, but Charleston police say they're not sure if the people were involved in the shooting. They got away, and no one was taken into custody. Crime scene detectives will be on scene late into the night. They were in the process of obtaining a search warrant and were waiting for the homeowner to arrive. They do not believe the victim lived in the home, but was possibly staying there. Fourth Avenue between Florida and Bream Street is shut down as of 11:55 p.m. They say the shooting is likely drug related. -------------------------------- Metro 911 Dispatchers say there has been a shooting in the 4th Avenue area of Charleston's West Side. Charleston Police say a man was shot in the head. The victim is alive and is currently in surgery. There was a short chase on foot with a possible suspect in that area earlier no word if there have been any arrests. We have a crew on the scene and will continue to update this story.
