A Kanawha County home went up in flames Monday morning.
Dispatchers say it started around 9:30am on Fernridge Drive in the Big Chimney area.
Neighbors thought a person was in the back bedroom so Tom Kidd, who saw the fire and stopped, tried to enter the house to check for anyone inside. He pulled two dogs from the fire who didn't make it. He also received cuts to his arm while trying to get inside the home. Another neighbor also went into the house with him.
Firefighters were also fearful that someone was inside, but the homeowners arrived from work about an hour after the fire started. They say luckily no one was inside but they did lose their two pet dogs.
