Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies and U.S. Marshals blanketed Kanawha County in an effort to get fugitives off the streets. Eyewitness News was along exclusively for the ride.
"Eventually you're going to be caught, it's just a matter of time," says Lt. Sean Crosier. A strong message to fugitives who refuse to turn themselves in.
Deputies and Marshals joined forces to bring justice to victims, and clean up your streets.
"We even teamed up two person cars today because we knew that these people we were going to be looking for today are just a little more desperate than the average criminal," explains Crosier.
They spread out, four per team, prepared for any scenario and ready to reel in criminals who brush off the law.
"What's the camera's here for?" asks Christopher Haynes. "Well, you happened to come up on the list today," answers Deputy U.S. Marshal John LaJeunesse.
Haynes was picked up after he kept refusing to pay his child support.
Deputies say no matter how small or big the crime, they're out there to let the victims know they haven't forgotten.
"It's just like the old adage. You can run but you can't hide. Eventually we're going to catch up with you and eventually you're going to have to pay the piper and pay your dues," says Crosier.
Six were arrested in Thursday's warrant sweep. They targeted Saint Albans, Cross Lanes, and Sissonville.
"We are putting together all of our assets and some of our outside resources to help able to aprehend these people," says Crosier. "We know the victims will be pleased when we do that."
