A West Virginia deputy is killed after a chase that spanned two states ended in a crash.
West Virginia State Police responded to a hit and run call on Easton Hill Road shortly before 1am on Saturday.
About 20 minutes later, Grantsville police officers spotted the suspect's truck on Route 100 and attempted to pull him over.
Officers, along with Monongalia deputies, made contact with the suspect, 35-year-old Jerod Green. They say Green appeared intoxicated and wouldn't get out of the vehicle. He then took off into Pennsylvania on State Route 0019.
Green traveled onto I-79, where he struck Sgt. Michael Todd May's cruiser.
Sgt. May was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Green was taken into custody.
Sgt. May was a ten year veteran of the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department. He leaves behind a father, mother and brother.
