Mr. & Mrs. Gene Greek tied the knot in the chapel at the National Guard Headquarters in Charleston Friday. This marriage marks the beginning of a new life on a day Gene is starting a new career. "I will go to Warrant Officer Candidate school and then aviation school in Fort Rucker, Alabama." Gene's request to become a pilot with the National Guard was approved by a board Friday. He will take his new wife with him. Gene and Cipriana met two years ago in Morgantown while attending school at WVU. Specialist Gene Greek is an enlisted soldier in the Army National Guard. He just returned for a year long deployment to Kosovo. "It was rough, a lot of skype, it was stressful but we made it through," said Gene Greek. Not only did their love grow during that tough time.. about halfway through Gene's deployment, Cipriana gave birth… to TWIN boys in May. Gene was able to come home for the birth.. but only for a couple weeks before heading back to Kosovo. "That was probably the hardest thing I think I had ever done," said Cipriana, "I got used to having him help me and when he left it was like the rug came ripped out right from under my feet." They both admit there were tough times. But they never doubted they would make it through. Was there ever a time while you were in Kosovo that you didn't think this would happen? "No I, imagined it happening the whole time, I've been planning it for a while," said Gene. "I just had a gut feeling it would work but it was tough on some days when his internet was down because that was the perk of my day," said Cipriana. Today, the happy family celebrates being together.. all four of them.. starting a whole new chapter in the book of life. Would you have changed anything? "No. I think it turned out alright." The family will move to Alabama this spring or summer so Gene can attend school to become a pilot. In the meantime, they hope to plan a honeymoon too. 35:45 No way! Not at all.
