A federal grand jury indicts a man accused of shooting an off duty police officer in Glasgow last year.
Nickey Don Smith II, 36, is accused of possessing an illegal Central Arms 12 gauge shotgun on December 13, 2011. He was convicted of a felony in 2002, which prohibited him to do so.
Smith allegedly shot Glasgow police officer Steve Smith when he responded to a burglary call phoned in by Nickey Smith (no relation) at his home in December.
Smith faces up to 20 years in prison on the new federal charge alone.
