A Charleston lawyer gets a prestigious federal appointment. Carte Goodwin was nominated by both Senators Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller to be on a panel to study trade relations between the U.S. and China.
The United States-China Economic Security Review Commission helps determine whether trade issues have implications on the U.S. economy or national security.
Goodwin will present his findings to both President Obama and Congress. He will hold the seat for two years. If you recall, Goodwin briefly held the U.S. Senate seat of the late Robert C. Byrd before Manchin was elected.
