A local legend who has a hospital named in her honor has died.
Dr. Mildred Mitchell-Bateman passed away Wednesday from a short-term illness.
In 1999, Governor Cecil Underwood renamed West Virginia's leading mental hospital, the Huntington State Hospital, the Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital to honor her many accomplishments.
Dr. Bateman was also nominated as a local legend by Representative Shelly Moore Capito.
There will be a memorial service at Bream Presbyterian Church on February 4th at 2pm.
