South Charleston police allege a car driven by a drunk driver turned into the path of a Saint Albans biker last night, critically injuring the rider. The holiday weekend is putting a lot of motorcycles on the road including hundreds of Harley owners meeting in Charleston. Even the biggest bike--or trike--is dwarfed by big rig trucks, SUV's and even cars. They are only a small part of the overall flow of traffic--even in summer. Safety experts say car drivers often have a hard time judging motorcycle speeds. Riders complain people don't see them. With the Harley Owners Group in town, people will need to careful with an excess 600 motorcycles on the road. Night can just compound problems for cycles.
