It's been about eight years since the Wiseman family walked into the field house at Poca High School.

Sharlene Wiseman says, "When we were on that championship run a bunch of the moms and I would get together and go in the locker room. We had a good football family."

Now the Wisemans have come back to give the team their son James' jersey.

25 year old Wiseman, a former all-stater for the Dots, helped lead them to two state championships in 2001 and 2002. He died this past July in a motorcycle accident on Silver Street in Poca. Since then the state has shut down that section of road.

James' father, Brad, says, "They barricaded the road off on both sides. If we can save somebody what we've been through the the effort is very well spent."

The Dots decided to dedicate this season to James, and James' brother, Joe, says he sees a lot of his brother in one particular player.

Joe says, "That little fullback out there, he's kind of a blocky little cat just like James. It's good to know someone that played the same position as him has the enthusiasm to play this year."

That fullback is David Skeens, and he says he hopes he can lead his team the way James did his.

Skeens says, "They won a state championship and I wanna win one my senior year."

Brad Wiseman says, "I think James would say 'I can't believe they're doing that for me.' But he would be proud, very proud."

The Dots are off to a good start this season. They beat Nitro last week and are facing off against Ravenswood tonight.

In James' memory, the Wisemans have also set up a yearly scholarship fund for a Poca High student.
