A Boeing 757 flying out of Washington D.C. this morning made an emergency landing at Yeager Airport around 9 A.M. after smoke appeared in the cockpit.
It was a false alarm.
Passengers tell Eyewitness News the pilot made an announcement before landing that there was hydrolic fluid leaking and that was what caused the concern.
There was never a fire on board.
The United Airlines plane was en route to San Diego.
The plane was evacuated on the tarmac. All 178 passengers on board are fine.
United sent another plane to Charleston this afternoon around 12:30. It took another hour for the plane to be boarded and refueled before taking off and getting the passengers toward their destination.
